Funny currency raises curiosity among the visitors (TOI Photo)Coins have a story to tell. If you study them carefully, they will tell you about kings and queens, of places that they have been to, of the errors in minting them (and how it led to them being a collectors dream), and how they changed hands. A Mumbai-based auction house, which is holding their 25th auction of coins, bank notes and medals in Ahmedabad, organised a coin fair in conjunction with the Gujarat Coin Society.
The fair had exhibits (by invitation) of some of the best collections of India, there was a coin exchange facility where people could buy, sell or exchange coins, and also an opportunity for scholastic activities; they released a book: Collectors Guide to Chronologies of Sultans, Rulers & Colonial Head of India by Praful Thakkar. The exhibition had people flocking to it, and the rare Kashmir copper coins were quite an attraction.
